Spain: Increased Scrutiny of ICT Applicant Health Insurance Certificates
August 18, 2023
Spanish authorities have increased scrutiny of health insurance certificates submitted as part of Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) permit applications. Affected foreign nationals should note that their health insurance certificates must have been issued by either a Spanish insurance company or the subsidiary of a foreign insurance company that is operating in Spain. If the latter type, the document must include the full legal and registered name of the company operating in Spain. Previously, authorities were more lenient when assessing such documentation. As a reminder, general travel insurance documentation will not be accepted in lieu of more specific health insurance certificates.
