Sweden: New Work Permit Processing System to Commence Sooner than Expected

Swedish authorities have clarified the start date of the new four-tier work permit processing model, with applications filed from December 15, 2023 to be processed under the new system from that date – subject to a potential short delay as authorities finalize internal administrative procedures. Previously, it was understood that applications would be processed under the new model from January 29, 2024 onwards, but the government has since clarified this point. All applications filed prior to December 15, 2023 will be processed according to the current system.
