Taiwan: Tourism for Mainland Chinese Nationals Resumed
September 29, 2023
Mainland Chinese nationals living in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and other places outside Mainland China can now apply for tourism permits to enter Taiwan. Business activities are not allowed under this status. Additionally, Taiwan plans to gradually reintroduce group tourism for Mainland Chinese nationals, setting an initial daily cap at 2,000 travelers. However, the government has not yet announced the start date. Notably, when Taiwan reopened its borders to other global regions last year, it continued its ban on Mainland Chinese visitors, prolonging COVID-19 control measures established in March 2020.
