Thailand, Myanmar: Processing Delays at Government Agencies Following Earthquake
April 1, 2025
In Thailand, due to the recent earthquake and the subsequent implementation of a government-mandated work-from-home policy in Thailand, the Immigration Bureau, Employment Department, and Revenue Department are currently experiencing backlogs. This has particularly impacted the processing of tax certifications (needed for immigration applications), which currently take approximately six business days or more, with the possibility of further delays; as well as Board of Investment online appointments, which are delayed.
In Myanmar, there are also immigration processing delays due to closed or damaged government office buildings in many cities.
