The Netherlands: Stricter Proof of Salary Receipt Requirements for Recognized Sponsors Forthcoming
November 14, 2025
Effective January 1, 2026, recognized sponsors will be required to include proof that highly skilled employees or European Blue Card holders have actually received their salary; whereas currently only payslips (which do not necessarily prove receipt of salary) are required. Adequate proof could include statements from the company's business bank account or an overview of a batch payment. These documents will need to show that the employee has received the salary in a payment account in the employee's name.
This change will increase administrative requirements and may necessitate enhancements to payroll documentation and internal record-keeping systems. Employers should begin reviewing their current processes to ensure they can produce compliant payment evidence and avoid potential non-compliance penalties once the new rule takes effect.
