The Netherlands: Work Permit Exemption Likely Forthcoming for Divers
September 11, 2023
Due to a worker shortage in the diving industry in the Netherlands, the government has proposed a work permit exemption for non-EU divers to stay in the territorial zone of the Netherlands (including inland waters and land) for up to 40 days in a calendar year, if it is incidental work and they meet professional and medical qualifications. The proposal is currently in a public consultation period until the end of September. Once it is in effect, the exemption will be available for five years.
