
APS is a temporary residence permit that lasts twelve months (unless a bilateral agreement states otherwise) and allows students to work or seek work. If the graduate’s student permit expires after he or she applies for APS , the student is allowed to remain in France while the APS is pending.
Additionally, as long as the graduate’s proposed salary is at least 1.5 times the country’s minimum wage and the proposed position is related to the graduate’s field of study, the employer does not have to complete labor market testing to hire the graduate under a work permit.
What This Means for Employers
An employer will not have to plan as far in advance if it seeks to hire foreign Master’s graduates of French universities. The elimination of the labor market test means fewer administrative burdens for the employer during the work permit process.
