Zimbabwe: New e-Passport Launched
January 4, 2023
Since the launch of the biometric e-passport on December 14, 2021, the Civil Registry Department continues to issue e-passports at eight district and provincial registry offices. All valid machine-readable passports remain in use until expiry; however, Zimbabwean nationals should apply for an e-passport at their nearest district or express center to avoid any travel delays. This new service is in line with the government’s aims to create a more digitalized economy, enhance border security, and improve the process of acquiring travel documents for Zimbabweans.
