Due to the observance of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the eXpats Service Centre will be closed July 6 and July 7 and the front counter will be closed July 5 and July 8.
MSC-Malaysia status and ICT sector companies should follow the below guidelines to avoid further processing delays (applications filed after the below dates will be adjudicated after July 11):
MSC-Malaysia Status Companies:
- Stage 1 applications: Submit by June 30 to obtain a decision prior to the holiday closure.
- Stage 2 applications: Submit by June 10 to receive complete endorsements prior to the holiday closure.
- For security reasons, any stage 2 applications filed between June 13 and July 4 cannot include original passports. Instead, the following additional documents will need to be provided for the employee and dependents (if applicable):
- Copy of passport identification page;
- Copy of current pass (if applicable);
- Copy of latest entry stamp page;
- Copy of reference visa page (if applicable);
- Copy of last page of passport (for Indian nationals); and
- Copy of three blank passport pages.
- Change of position applications will still require original passports for endorsement purposes.
ICT Sector Companies:
- Stage 1 Approval of Position applications: Submit by June 28 to obtain a decision prior to the holiday closure.
- Stage 2 applications: Submit by June 1 to receive a decision prior to the holiday closure.
- The last day to submit original passports for endorsement is June 30 to receive complete endorsements prior to the holiday closure.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Employers should follow the above submission guidelines to ensure approvals and endorsements are received prior to the holiday closure period.
Employees of MSC-Malaysia status companies who have already received their Stage 1 approvals must enter Malaysia on or before June 7 to proceed with their Stage 2 applications.
Employees of ICT sector companies who have already received their Stage 1 approvals must enter Malaysia before May 30 to proceed with their Stage 2 applications.
Employees from both types of companies who have not received their Stage 1 approvals prior to the holiday closure and are therefore not be able to enter Malaysia for Stage 2 submissions must factor in longer processing times due to the holidays.
