Karen is an Associate at Fragomen’s Los Angeles office, where she provides counsel on U.S. business immigration matters. Her current practice focuses on nonimmigrant matters for a large corporate client.

Karen joined Fragomen as a Law Clerk in September 2018. In this role, she assisted with a variety of U.S. nonimmigrant and immigrant matters, including outstanding researcher and extraordinary ability petitions and responses to Requests for Evidence for H-1B, I-140, H-3 and L petitions.

During law school, Karen worked as a Student Attorney for the Judge Elmo B. Hunter Legal Center for Victims of Crimes Against Women, where she represented a survivor of domestic abuse and helped her client seek immigration relief under the Violence Against Women Act. As a Student Attorney, Karen also conducted interviews with local women’s shelters and advocacy groups to create resources for abused women seeking help.

Karen also participated in the Karnes Family Immigration Detention Center Clinic in 2018, where she traveled with a group of fellow student volunteers and a professor to Karnes Family Immigration Detention Center during spring break to provide legal support to detained immigrant women and children seeking asylum. At Karnes, Karen prepared the women for credible fear interviews, drafted declarations and conducted intakes and pre-release orientations. She also served as the Public Relations Chair for the newly-established Immigration Law Student Association at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where she helped put together a panel consisting of local immigration attorneys to speak to students about their careers in the immigration field.

Karen speaks English, Nepali and Spanish.
