Foreign nationals applying for 12-VI Work Contract Visas must submit proof of Social Security registration, which requires gathering various corporate documentation and may delay the visa application if the documents are not timely prepared.
Although the registration processing time is one business day, applicants must gather a number of corporate documents including the foreign national's work contract with the Ecuadorian company, proof of enrollment in the Commercial Register and a copy of the identification of the legal representative or manager. Applicants can apply at the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute in person or through a duly-authorized representative.
Applicants for the 12-VI Visa with Sponsorship Letter, which requires a foreign employment contract and payroll, are exempt from the new requirement.
