- The immigration law of Ecuador offers several options for employers and foreign nationals intending to conduct business or work activities in Ecuador, including providing technical assistance. Ecuador is a member of the Mercosur agreement and the Andean Community. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
- The Acts of Commerce Visa (Visa de Actos de Comercio) is used by foreign nationals seeking to conduct business activities in Ecuador for more than 90 days or to conduct technical activities. It can be granted once in 12 months for 180 consecutive days, calculated from the visa issuance date.
- All individuals seeking employment in Ecuador must secure a work visa. A temporary work visa, mainly the Work Contract Visa, is used by foreign nationals who will be employed and paid in Ecuador. The visa permits work for up to two years and may be renewed in two-year increments.
- Ecuador also offers a two-year temporary residence visa for digital nomads, which allows foreign nationals who own a company or work for or provide services to a company or person outside Ecuador to reside in and work remotely from Ecuador without local sponsors.
