Following the entry into force of the Royal Decree on March 30, 2017 allowing the municipal authorities to introduce an administrative fee of a maximum EUR 50 for the renewal of the Temporary Residence Permits, the Antwerp municipal authorities officially confirmed the introduction of the administrative fee of EUR 50. The administrative fee is in addition to the cost of the electronic card.
The administrative fee will be reduced to EUR 5 for the following categories:
-
minors;
-
students and PhD students; and
-
third-country nationals who are granted Residence Permits for humanitarian reasons.
More municipalities are expected to introduce the additional fee in the future.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals renewing their Temporary Residence Permits in any of Antwerp's nine districts should anticipate the additional fees.
