Delays in Pending and New In-Country Immigration Processes Ahead

The situation

Effective July 2, 2018, the Director and all personnel at Venezuela’s national immigration office, SAIME, were replaced.

Impact

The new personnel must re-review all pending residence visa and work permit applications, including renewal applications, which will delay pending applications by at least one month.

Foreign nationals who submitted residence visa and work permit applications in Venezuela on or after July 2 should also expect delays due to an application backlog.

Since business and visit visa applications are filed in Venezuelan consulates abroad, these are not affected by the delay.
