Reminder: Premium Processing Fee Increase Takes Effect October 1

United States

At a glance

  • Premium processing requests postmarked on or after October 1, 2018 must include the new $1,410 fee.
  • Premium processing remains suspended for most H-1B case types through February 19, 2019, but remains available for certain other employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions.

The situation

The Department of Homeland Security is increasing the Form I-907 premium processing fee to $1,410, from $1,225, effective October 1, 2018.  Applications postmarked on or after that date must include the new fee.

Premium processing is available for certain employment-based immigration petitions filed on USCIS Forms I-129 and I-140.  Employers who pay the extra fee can obtain adjudication of a case – approval, denial or request for further evidence – within 15 calendar days.

As a reminder, premium processing is suspended for most H-1B filings through February 19, 2019.
