Argentina: Streamlined Online Process Available for Certain Short-Term Work Permits
December 23, 2022
The National Immigration Directorate in Argentina has implemented an online service (called Tramitación de Ingreso Electrónica – TIE), which allows foreign nationals who are outside Argentina to apply online for a 30-day short-term work permit (subcategory 24H 1170) and to submit electronic copies of their application documents without a personal appearance at a consular post. Currently, this online process is available for visa-exempt foreign nationals (i.e., those who do not generally require a visa to enter Argentina). Eligible foreign nationals who file their application online will not need to schedule an appointment or appear before consular officials to complete an interview, as is required when submitting consular permit applications. Immediately upon approval of an application, which takes approximately 15 calendar days, the National Immigration Directorate will issue a digital permit that foreign nationals can use to enter Argentina and start work. The online process significantly reduces the overall lead time, as foreign nationals applying through the consular process commonly experience appointment availability delays.
