Austria: Easier Change of Employer for EU Blue Card Holders

EU Blue Card holders in Austria can now change employers more easily: 

• Those who have held an Austrian EU Blue Card for at least 12 months can change employers immediately upon filing a complete EU Blue Card application related to the new employment;  
• Those who have held an Austrian EU Blue Card for less than 12 months can change employers 30 days after filing a complete EU Blue Card application related to the new employment; and  
• Those who have held an EU Blue Card in another EU Member State for at least 12 months can start working in Austria 30 days after filing a complete Austrian EU Blue Card application.  

Previously, foreign nationals had to wait for approval of their new EU Blue Card before commencing work. Those filing incomplete applications are still required to await approval.
