Austria: Red White Red Card and Blue Card EU Collection Changes

Visa national Red White Red Card principal applicants can now file their Red White Red Card application in country during their valid stay period in Austria based on an Austrian visa or a visa issued by another EU country. Previously, visa nationals had to file their Red White Red Card application in person at the Austrian consular post in their home country or their employer had to file on their behalf in Austria. Additionally, visa national Red White Red Card applicants can now also obtain their residence permit during their valid stay period in Austria, whereas previously they could only apply for an Austrian entry visa once their residence permit application was approved.  Note that for applicants filing/obtaining a Red White Red Card based on an Austrian working visa C, the validity of their Austrian combined work and residence permit can start only the day after the expiry of the working visa C, whereas previously this was not allowed.
