The Azerbaijani government has introduced a new (very limited) work permit exemption for highly qualified foreign nationals who are working on projects that are of national interest to the government. The work permit exemption is valid for up to three years and is extendable. Benefits include extended allowable stays in the country; permanent residence qualification without passing an Azerbaijani language and history test; and a faster processing time compared to other work permit/temporary residence permit types.
