The government of Canada has announced new measures to support Sudanese nationals. These will include: waiver of certain processing fees for Sudanese nationals who are temporary residents in Canada and are seeking to extend their status in Canada or change status between temporary immigration streams, and for citizens and permanent residents of Canada in Sudan seeking to apply for passports or permanent resident travel documents; and the prioritization of temporary and permanent residence applications from Sudanese nationals currently in Sudan, including visitor visa applications for eligible immediate family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residence. The implementation date for these measures is not yet known; the government is expected to publish further details within the next few days.
