Following the April federal election, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has appointed Lena Metlege Diab as the new Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as part of his cabinet reshuffle. Diab served as Nova Scotia’s Minister of Immigration and as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from 2013 to 2021 and was elected to Canada’s Parliament in 2021. As the IRCC Minister, Diab will be responsible for shaping national immigration policy, and as such, Fragomen is closely monitoring potential changes and will provide updates as they develop.
