Canada: Visa-Free Entry for Qatari Nationals Implemented
December 1, 2025
Canada has introduced visa-free entry for Qatari nationals traveling for tourism or business. Under this change, Qatari nationals no longer need to obtain a temporary resident visa; instead, they must utilize the electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program, like other visa-exempt nationals. The eTA application is submitted online, costs CAD 7 and is typically approved within minutes. Some applications, however, may require several days if additional information or documentation is requested by authorities. An eTA is generally valid for up to five years or until the traveler’s passport expires and typically permits visits of up to 180 days. Qatari nationals who already hold a valid Canadian temporary resident visa may continue to use it until the visa expires or until the associated passport is no longer valid (whichever comes first). Those without a valid visa must obtain an eTA before traveling to Canada.
