Effective immediately, the Immigration Department in Peninsular Malaysia (West Malaysia) requires that a Professional Visit Pass (PVP) be cancelled upon completion of the holder’s assignment and before departure. The Department has indicated that failure to comply with the tightened cancellation policy could jeopardize future PVP applications.
To cancel a PVP, the Malaysian sponsor must submit an application letter together with the holder’s itinerary and passport to the Department as soon as the completion date of the Malaysian assignment can be determined, and no later than three business days prior to the holder’s date of final departure.
A sponsoring company that is unable to cancel a PVP before its holder’s final departure is required to make a correction through its immigration service provider. In addition to the standard supporting document requirements, the company must explain in its application letter why the PVP was not cancelled prior to the holder’s departure.
Previously, a PVP needed cancellation only if its holder was making his or her final departure before the PVP’s expiration date. Those departing on the same day as the pass’ expiration were allowed to leave without completing cancellation procedures.
