Cayman Islands: New Medical Requirement Introduced for Three-Month Temporary Work Permits

Beginning July 1, 2025, all Temporary Work Permit (TWP) applications in the Cayman Islands, including those for permits with a duration of three months or less, must include a Medical Declaration Letter from a registered doctor in any country. However, if it is issued by a doctor registered in Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States, no further medical examination will be required upon arrival in the Cayman Islands. Applicants submitting medical declarations from any other country must undergo an additional medical examination in the Cayman Islands within seven days of arrival, if their permit is approved. Individuals already in the Cayman Islands need only provide a Medical Declaration Letter from a registered local doctor. These medical requirements apply to all applicants and dependents aged 18 and older. Currently, the Medical Declaration Letter is not required for TWPs with a duration of three months or less. This policy is part of the government’s broader effort to standardize immigration requirements across categories.
