Costa Rica: Air Transit Visa Now Required for More Foreign Nationals, Among Other Restrictions

All foreign nationals who are part of Group Four as classified by the General Immigration Directorate (DGME) and nationals of Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, India, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, and Yemen, now require a Transit Visa to transit through Costa Rican airports. Previously, a visa was not required if these individuals were only transiting through the airports. The specific requirements for the Transit Visa for each nationality will be determined by the General Immigration Directorate. Additionally, the DGME has reclassified Mauritania and Pakistan from Group Three to Group Four, which means nationals of these two countries now require approval from the Restricted Visa Commission in Costa Rica before a consulate can issue their visa; previously, no such additional approval was required to obtain a consular visa.
