Ecuador: Online Visa Application Platform Remains Closed for Short-Term Visas

As an update to the previously reported temporary shutdown of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ online visa application platform, the system is back online for most visa types. Applicants are now able to submit initial and renewed Work Contract Visa and Temporary Mercosur Visa applications, and tourist stay extensions, among other applications, and will gradually begin to receive adjudications on their applications. However, the system remains closed for Short-Term Visas (Visa de Excepción de Corta Duración) until further notice, while the Ministry continues to update the system with upcoming changes to this visa type, soon to be replaced by an Acts of Commerce Visa.
