Four Chinese citizens living in Florida and a brokerage firm that serves Chinese and Chinese American clients filed a lawsuit, alleging that Florida’s new law is unconstitutional, because it prevents Chinese citizens from purchasing real estate in the state.
The law, S.B. 264, prohibits a citizen of China from buying real estate unless certain exceptions apply. Partner Kevin Miner explains that the law may be more restrictive than the lawsuit indicates, because the statute uses incorrect immigration terminology.
