Fragomen in Santa Clara Assists Local Unity Care Chapter

Fragomen in Santa Clara has "adopted" the Foster Care organization Unity Care through a number of volunteering and fundraising efforts this year. Unity Care is a non-profit San Jose, California youth organization founded with the goal of developing educational and social programs to enrich the lives of at-risk foster care children.

In June, Fragomen employees volunteered their time for Unity Care with a "House 4 Landscaping" project. Team members and their families provided gardening and landscaping support to improve the outdoor environment of one of Unity Care's local group homes for foster children. On Friday August 22, the Fragomen Santa Clara office held a silent auction to spur employee donations. The following day office volunteers staged a parking lot sale to mobilize the neighborhood community to support a great cause. Unity Care's Director, Rick Padilla, and his wife were hands-on at the sale to thank the Fragomen volunteers and to donate to the event. Youths from the Unity Care houses also came to the event to pick up a few back-to-school items. Proceeds from the silent auction and parking lot sale exceeded $4000, which all will go to Unity Care to benefit their youth program.
