With much of the world facing economic downturn, the semiconductor industry finds itself in a unique position as it pushes to address the worldwide chip shortage as quickly as possible, while facing supply chain, geopolitical and other issues. To address this shortage, billions of dollars are being invested into building new manufacturing sites in the U.S. and semiconductor companies across the supply chain will ultimately need to augment their staff with the appropriate level of expertise. To accomplish this, particularly given the scarcity of STEM professionals across the country, the U.S. immigration system will play a significant role in these companies’ ability to properly staff and meet the demand for increased production.
Join Fragomen Partner Lisa Ryan and Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, Ranking Member of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee and a top Democrat and leader in immigration rights, to hear insights into the future of the semiconductor industry and how the U.S. immigration system will potentially impact the industry’s ability to meet the demand for talent.
