Georgia: New Information Technology Sector Permit
December 8, 2025
In September 2025, Georgia introduced a new three-year residence permit for professionals in the information technology (IT) sector. The permit – which can be renewed three times (for a total residence period of 12 years) – is open to IT professionals, whether they are employees of a foreign or Georgian company, or freelance IT workers (including remote workers). Applicants must have a minimum of two years of proven work experience in IT-related fields and an annual income of at least USD 25,000. Permit holders can sponsor their spouses and dependents for residence. To remain valid, permit holders (as well as dependents) must physically reside in Georgia for at least 183 days each year.
