Gulf News: UAE Visa Grace Period: How Long Can You Stay After Employment Visa Cancellation?

Partner Shayan Sultan shared key insights in Gulf News on the UAE’s visa grace period and who qualifies for an extended stay. He explained that while most expatriates are granted a 30- to 90-day grace period after visa cancellation, some, including Golden and Green Visa holders, may stay up to 180 days.

He noted that authorities grant grace periods at their discretion based on visa type and skill classification. Free zone employees’ grace period starts from the residence permit cancellation, while mainland employees must track it from the labour card cancellation. He urged individuals to monitor their immigration status closely, as overstaying leads to daily fines.
