Italy: Fines for Citizens Failing to Register While Residing Abroad Increased

Italian citizens residing abroad who fail to register with the government registry called AIRE, which provides certain rights such as consular assistance while abroad, now face fines up to EUR 1,000 for each year of non-registration. Previously, fines were lower and enforcement of this rule was not as strict.
