Netherlands: Extension of Policy for Highly-Skilled Foreign Nationals to Work Without Residence Stickers/Documents
February 8, 2023

The temporary measure permitting visa-exempt highly-skilled foreign nationals to work without a residence sticker or residence document has been extended until further notice. The measure was originally implemented on July 22, 2022 and was set to expire at the end of January. The extension will allow eligible individuals to begin working upon arrival in the Netherlands on the basis of their permit approval letter for four months, without having to collect a residence endorsement sticker, as was previously required. These individuals must contact immigration authorities to schedule an appointment within two weeks of receiving their permit approval. At the appointment, individuals can either submit biometric data for their residence card to be approved or collect their residence permit card if biometric data was submitted at an earlier stage in the process. This measure does not apply to EU ICT or Blue Card permit holders.
