Effective April 17, 2024, the Netherlands ceased a residency-by-investment program, whereby applicants could apply for a three-year (renewable) residency visa (with work rights) provided they invested at least EUR 1,250,000 into the Dutch economy. Additionally, visa holders were able to apply for permanent residency after five years. Authorities explained that the program had not been used enough, and had not provided a sufficient boost to the Dutch economy or its startup business landscape. Current visa holders will still be able to renew their visa; and applications filed before April 17, 2024 will still be processed.
