Panama: Passport Requirements Relaxed for Venezuelan Nationals

The Panamanian government now allows Venezuelan nationals with expired passports to submit immigration applications and to carry out labor law-related processes, or any other governmental or private process in the country. The passport must have expired on or after September 1, 2023, and will be considered valid until April 3, 2025. Previously, Venezuelan nationals’ expired passports could only be considered valid if they had an extension stamp or if they applied for a new passport. This measure is intended to alleviate the challenges Venezuelan nationals are facing in obtaining and renewing such documents, particularly following the closure of the Venezuelan embassy in Panama until further notice.
