Poland: New Employment Permit Restrictions for Reduced Work Hours and Early-Operation Employers

Effective June 1, 2025, Poland has introduced the following restrictions regarding work permit applications:
- Standard work permits will not be issued for applicants who will work less than 25 percent of a full-time job (which is 40 hours in Poland). Additionally, for jobs of less than 20 hours per week, work permits will only be issued for a maximum one-year validity period. This rule does not apply to foreign nationals working under different work authorization arrangements, such as work-permit-exempt foreign nationals, among others.
- Polish employers (including Polish entities acting as the host entity for an intra-corporate transferee) who have been in operation for less than one year will only be eligible to sponsor a work permit of maximum one-year duration. In the context of an intra-corporate transferee arrangement, the length of operation of the non-Polish sending company is not relevant.
