Portugal: Residence Cards Automatically Extended

Due to the Portuguese immigration authority's (SEF) processing backlog, Portuguese residence cards that expired on or after March 13, 2020 are automatically considered valid until December 2023. This extension is only valid in Portugal, therefore travelers with expired residence cards should seek advice before traveling outside the country as they may face issues in other countries to prove Portuguese residence.
