Rwanda: New Occupation List Released
November 14, 2022
The Directorate of Immigration and Emigration has released an updated Occupation on Demand List. The first list was published in 2013 and had 82 occupations. Effective immediately, the list contains an additional 202 new occupations and skills in management, engineering, life sciences, life sciences, engineering and construction, health, teaching, information technology, creative performing arts, clerical support workers, cooks, trades, plant, and machine operators and assemblers. The occupations that are listed on the demand list determine the category of permit for which an applicant is eligible. Employees whose occupations are on the list usually qualify for the class H1 permit/skilled worker permit, under which companies are exempt from conducting a labor market test, which can save up to six weeks in the immigration process.
