South Africa: E-visa Expanded to 20 Additional Nationalities; New Visa Categories Forthcoming
May 3, 2023
The Department of Home Affairs has added an additional 20 nationalities to the 14 countries on the e-Visa nationals list. Nationals of these countries can apply online for an e-Visa to conduct tourism or permissible business visitor activities. The additional countries are: Albania, Algeria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Comoros, Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Liberia, Lithuania, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Romania, Senegal and Slovakia. This development follows the President of South Africa’s recent announcement regarding the upcoming work visa process review. In the upcoming months, the Department of Home Affairs will make other, long-term visa categories accessible online, including for study, business (investment), and intra-company transfer visas, with remote and start-up visas considered for future implementation. These developments will further improve the country’s economic growth and boost its tourism profile. We will report on related developments.
