The South African President announced on February 9, 2023, that the review of the work visa process has been completed. The review is an initiative by the government to streamline immigration processes in order to attract talent and investment into the country. The changes are expected to be formally announced and implemented in a few months and include: an introduction of a points-based system to attract skilled immigrants; trusted employer programs for efficient visa processing for investors, the introduction of the remote working visa, and special rules for high-growth foreign start-ups. We will monitor and report on related developments.
