South Africa: Screen Talent and Global Entertainment Scheme Expression of Interest Period Now Open

The Department of Home Affairs introduced a new visa program called the Screen Talent and Global Entertainment Scheme (STAGES), offering expedited visa progressing for film and entertainment entities operating in South Africa or abroad. Eligible entities interested in applying for STAGES for their film crews and related personnel must submit an Expression of Interest with the supporting documentation specified in the eligibility requirements through the designated STAGES portal by December 10, 2025. Successful entities will be notified within 30 business days and will be required to pay a visa processing fee of ZAR 1,520 per individual visa application. Similarly to the Trusted Employer Scheme and Trusted Tour Operator Scheme expression of interest process, it is anticipated that the Department of Home Affairs will open a second intake in the near future. Overall, the STAGES visa program forms part of the Department of Home Affairs’ broader digital and visa transformation agenda, aimed at attracting investment and fostering both local and international collaboration within South Africa’s film and creative sectors.
