Sri Lanka: Increase in Immigration-Related Fees

The Sri Lankan government has increased various immigration-related fees. Applicants must now pay USD 50 for online applications of Tourist Visas valid for 180 days, up from USD 20 for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries; USD 50-55 for obtaining travel authorization online, up from USD 35; among other increases. In addition, the Sri Lankan government has also increased fees for passport services and applicants are now required to pay SLR 5,000 for the issuance of passports under normal service, up from SLR 3,500; SLR 40,000 for direct submission of passport applications from countries where there are no Sri Lankan consular posts, up from SLR 23,200; SLR 1,200 for alterations of passports at the request of applicant, up from SLR 1,000 previously, among other increases.
