Tanzania: Shorter Processing Times and Simpler Process for Work Permit Applications

Employers can now apply for an employee’s combined work and residence permit online and will receive a consolidated decision when the full process is completed. Previously, employers would need to manually submit their employees’ work permit application to the Labor Commissioner (where processing could take up to 60-90 calendar days) and their resident permit application to the Commissioner for Immigration (where processing could take up to 17-22 calendar days). This consolidated and online approach will result in a combined work and residence permit processing time of six to eight weeks.
