Teodora Purcell Honored with 2016 KPBS Local Heroes Award
September 17, 2017
Fragomen’s San Diego Associate Teodora Purcell was recently named as the winner of 2016 KPBS Local Heroes Award for Women’s History Month. Teodora is being recognized for making an impact in the community through her pro bono work for Casa Cornelia Law Center’s indigent clients.
Casa Cornelia is a San Diego-based public interest law firm that submitted a nomination for Teodora due to her tireless commitment to its mission of providing legal assistance to victims of human and civil rights violation. For past several years Teodora has been actively involved with the center and has dedicated her talents and time to center’s children’s and domestic violence programs, and representing its clients who were seeking asylum in the United States.
Apart from providing the direct legal services to the center’s clients, she has been instrumental in coordinating work of other attorneys, paralegals and staff at Fragomen who also provided pro bono help in 2014 in the area of immigration. Teodora also encouraged the involvement of firm’s lawyers in all Casa Cornelia programs. Learn more about Teodora's pro bono work at Casa Cornelia Center here.
