Thailand: Board of Investment Work Permit Application Process Consolidated

Visa and work permit applicants under the Board of Investment now benefit from a simplified application process that combines the pre-position application, pre-visa application, and candidate nomination application into a single submission during the pre-arrival processes. Importantly, all documents for the pre-position, pre-visa, and candidate nomination applications must now be prepared and submitted together, which could mean earlier document gathering and preparation time for affected foreign nationals and their employers.
Under the new process, after entering Thailand, applicants must update additional documents — including their passport with entry stamp, e-Visa (Non-Immigrant B: Business or Non-Immigrant B: Investment Through BOI), Thai residence address, Thai phone number, and Thailand Digital Arrival Card — in the BOI online system for final approval before booking an online visa appointment. The processing time for these steps will be shorter under the new process (five business days, down from 7-10 business days). However, the online appointment processing time remains unchanged (three to four weeks) following the approval of the post-arrival application.
