Fragomen Partner, Amy Fallon will be presenting her session, “The Impact on U.S. Immigration Status When Facing Changes in Employment,” hosted by Lawline, on Monday, June 5 at 2:00 PM EDT.
About the Webcast:
Many changes arose out of the COVID-19 pandemic, but one of the most significant in the U.S. immigration space, perhaps, is the increased opportunity for remote or hybrid work. While the job market has offered flexibility and adaptability for our new day-to-day life, it is not without its challenges to employers and regulators.
Most people who arrive in the U.S. on a temporary work visa must adhere to stringent rules and regulations regarding how, where, and at what rate they must work to qualify for their visa. These unprecedented circumstances require new processes and analyses to ensure employers remain compliant and mitigate risk within their U.S. immigration programs. This course will discuss and examine how changes within employment impact foreign nationals' ability to stay in the U.S. on a work visa, including changes to job titles, layoffs, and remote work.
Learning Objectives:
- Examine the impact of a change in job title on a foreign national's U.S. immigration status
- Identify visa sponsorship issues from remote or hybrid work opportunities for foreign nationals
- Review the short-term and long-term consequences of the employment layoffs on visa status for foreign nationals
CLE credit is offered for this session. Please click the register button to view the credit available to you and to register your place.
