The European Union has launched a new Entry/Exit System (EES) that will require non-EU travelers to submit biometric data—facial images and fingerprints—when crossing borders.
In an article published by The New York Times, Partner Jo Antoons explains that the rollout will be gradual and uneven, with some airports like Düsseldorf and Findel implementing the system immediately, while others, such as Schiphol, will follow in the coming weeks. Jo notes that the focus is less on which countries are participating and more on which border posts are operationally ready, highlighting that the EES launch is a phased process rather than a single event.
