In The Telegraph, Manager Andreia Ghimis highlights that EU law allows for border checks in exceptional circumstances, which can last up to two years, with the possibility of extensions. Despite the European Commission's emphasis on safeguarding free movement within the Schengen Area, Andreia points out that the Commission has not taken action against countries repeatedly extending border controls. She explained that while these checks may disrupt travel, they remain permissible under EU rules, and travellers should, therefore, prepare for delays.
