An increasing number of UK universities are entering student visa action plans as the Home Office steps up compliance oversight. In an article published in Times Higher Education, Senior Manager Jonathan Hill explained that this trend reflects lingering post-Covid data and a rise in asylum claims linked to certain institutions.
He observed that UK Visas and Immigration has intensified its audits of visa refusal, enrolment and course completion rates, which has led to more action plans. Although Labour’s immigration White Paper has not yet revised the official thresholds, its emphasis on tighter standards appears to be informing UKVI’s current oversight.
