United States: USCIS Extends FY 2024 Cap Registration Deadline to Monday, March 20, at 5:00 pm ET
March 17, 2023

At a Glance
- The registration deadline is being extended because of technical problems that affected the USCIS H-1B cap registration site late Thursday.
- Employers and their immigration counsel will have more time to submit registrations for the FY 2024 H-1B cap selection lotteries. The original deadline was noon ET today.
The issue
Yesterday, users of the USCIS’s H-1B cap registration website were unable to submit payment and complete the final steps to enter foreign beneficiaries for the FY 2024 cap selection lotteries.
Technical problems affected the site less than 24 hours before the original registration deadline of noon ET today. USCIS took the system offline for repairs last night after it was alerted to the problems. The system went back online late last night and USCIS announced the deadline extension this morning.
What this means for employers and foreign nationals
Sponsoring employers should work with their immigration counsel to complete any outstanding registrations before the new deadline. Because of the system outages, higher than normal volume is expected during the final hours, which could cause further slowdowns.
Fragomen is closely monitoring the registration process and will issue updates as needed.
